March ended up being a pretty rough month due to some weekends that went awry so I’m hoping to be more productive this April. Actually, I’m hoping Spring in general will go well. This is the last season of my second year of blogging so I’m hoping to take what I’ve learned from this past Winter and Fall and further hone my approach to blogging before Year 3 begins in late June. Hopefully, these hopes and dreams down below will come true.
Winter 2019 Blogging
Again, March was rough for a couple of reasons so I’m a bit behind. Fortunately as far as Episode Reviews go, I’m down to just Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka (Thank God) and I’m super far in all the non-review shows. The Final Rankings will be up on at Saturday, April 6 at the latest.
Regarding Dororo, I am coming back to that soon. Much like with The Promised Neverland, I’ve been waiting for when I can give that show my utmost attention. At the very least, I’ll binge up to the halfway point for the Final Rankings and will try to get posts done whenever I’m most able to.
I do plan on writing series reviews for shows I didn’t cover but that’s not really a priority for me right now. They’ll happen when they happen.
Spring 2019 Blogging
Here are the following three shows I plan to cover in Episode Reviews:
- Carole & Tuesday
- Dororo (2019) *Carried over from Winter 2019*
- Fruits Basket (2019)
For the past three seasons, I didn’t have a set lineup and experimented until I finalized it by the midseason. Unfortunately, that approach takes up a lot of time so in my best interest, I decided to place my bets ahead of time. I’ll only try and experiment if a show interest me enough and I have the time and even then, it’ll probably only be for a couple of weeks before I make a decision.
To be honest, I don’t know if I’m dead set on three shows. I tried to settle with that number this past Winter and against my better judgment, I didn’t. I’m open to a fourth show but I will admit that I don’t want to do a fifth as I want to dedicate the time I’d use for the fifth slot to, say, School-Live! or my re-reviews.
The weekly Lightning Rounds haven’t pan out to my liking so I won’t be doing those anymore. What I’ll do instead is post updated impressions posts on the shows I’m watching around the midseason. They’d basically be akin to IGN’s “Reviews in Progress”. In fact, I’m hoping these will help me draft out some material I can maybe later use in Series Reviews so that way, I can post that type of post much, much sooner. I’m hoping this will be a part of my approach to blogging from this season forward but I’m always open to suggestions on how I can better blog.
School-Live! Episode Reviews
Ended up putting this project on hold after my blogging routine went awry throughout March. I’m hoping to resume ASAP but please understand that it could return as soon as this week or after the influx of Spring 2019 premieres. If time is on my side (and this is a very big if), you might see the next couple of posts published back to back as opposed to on a weekly basis to make up for losing time in March.
I do have a second review poll all planned out and had I kept up with School-Live! like I was supposed to, you would’ve seen it posted on Twitter yesterday or today. I’d say until I reach a little over halfway through School-Live!, then I’ll post the poll. In case anyone wonders, Poll #2 will comprise of the second and third place winners of Poll #1 (Yuki Yuna is a Hero Season 1 and Flip Flappers) and two entirely new picks (those I’m keeping a secret for now).
Here’s my current windows:
- April 19 to April 30 – Princess Principal
- May 6 to May 17 – Made in Abyss
- TBD – Girls’ Last Tour
- TBD – Laid-Back Camp
I’ll be on vacation from April 13th to 21st so my plan is to get as much work done on PriPri and Abyss during that time so I can then smoothly release them on a daily basis. I’m doing daily instead of weekly because screw it, these shows have already aired and this project of mine has been on hold for far too long.
Again, the original episode reviews will still be around, just moved to Uncatergorized. As much as I’d like to make them go away, I feel someone will probably want to compare the two versions.
Moving Stuff Into Private and (Maybe) Some Out of Private
I’ve already mentioned how I moved stuff to Private because I never liked how stressed and scatterbrained I was during my first year of blogging and I want to present an archive of posts I can be most comfortable with. I’m going to be doing one more sift through the archives, partially to purge but actually also to see if there’s any posts I’d maybe like to put back on Private. Who knows, maybe I purged some stuff on impulse and I’d actually be okay with having them out on the internet again. Just something I’m letting be known for transparency’s sake.
Reposting Old MyAnimeList posts?
This is something I’ve actually been considering since January. Before I made this blog, I originally wrote blog posts on my MyAnimeList account in Fall 2016 to Spring 2017. Since I’ve devoted my attention to this site, those posts have either been deleted or put in Private. The reasons behind that decision is basically the same as the ones for the purge I’ve been doing here. Lately, I’ve thought about putting them back on Public on MAL but then I thought maybe it’d be better to re-post them here on my blog. That way, I have my writings all in one place. If anyone thinks it’d be worth doing, feel free to let me know.
God, that page has been in “Reconstruction” for months now. I definitely need to fix that.
I’ll have a page up for my Spring 2019 First Impressions but I’ll also be creating a “Miscellaneous” archive page. This particular page will list links to Episode Reviews on shows I either didn’t finish covering for some reason or chose to only cover partway. Some shows included are Ancient Magus’ Bride, March Comes In Like a Lion (Season 2), Angels of Death, and Island.
Thanks for reading!
