Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon – Ep. 9

I’ve returned to my job this week so I’ll be covering Episodes 9, 10, and 11 in quickies as I possibly begin to scale blogging down again. Episode 12 will still be covered normally since it’s the series finale.

  • The plot of this episode has Lammis, Hulemy, the Bearcats, and a new guy named Mishuel surveying the perimeter of the labyrinth for the Hunter’s Association for a couple of weeks.
    • I don’t see anyone taking notes so how much does this quest accomplish?
  • Since Hunters are generally the only people exploring this strata, the only building in sight is the Hunters Association’s. I love that the two receptionists stationed there are bored out of their minds.
  • All the women find Mishuel good looking though funnily enough, Mishuel is actually very shy so the attention makes him anxious.
    • Surprisingly, the show doesn’t have Lammis or Hulemy falling in love with Mishuel and making Boxxo jealous. I guess it’d be weird but it did seem like the easy thing to do.
  • Boxxo offers cocoa drinks to Mishuel and it feels like a missed opportunity to not have the latter get sugar high on them.
  • You know, this show has had no qualms bringing up human biology so I really shouldn’t be surprised when it actually says Lammis is on her period.
  • I chuckled at Hulemy figuring out menstrual pads and washing machines, partly due to the absurdity of it all but also the fact that Hulemy is the only human character with brain cells.
  • Oddly enough, the gang runs into some crooks who are out for Mishuel’s head. It’s a fun action scene though the show is very sparse on why exactly Mishuel is being hunted. Is this really going to be a thread for the remainder of the show?
  • Not that car wash soap and water isn’t more effective but it would’ve been funny if Boxxo and Lammis busted out some Coke and Mentos again. And no, I haven’t let that go.
    • I swear, Lammis only wins when she doesn’t try to punch something. Let the poor girl land a hit, goddamn it! The only thing she’s managed to hit so far is Boxxo and she wasn’t intending to hurt him.
  • Really great post-credit scene with Chains coming back with the fake vending machines, only to then bail once Boxxo returns to the Clearwater Strata. My only nitpick is that Chains managed to get away with this for a week. Like, their “machines” are right in front of their abandoned restaurant and they made three of them. How were those not dead giveaways?
