No new seasonal shows have been added to the list. There were a couple that tempted me, including shows I didn’t write a first impressions for, but I think I have enough on my plate. I try to work on the GOBLIN SLAYER posts on Fridays but I’ve scheduled them to be done on Saturdays. I’m trying to crank out two episodes for Love Live! every weekend as well as one on any other day off. It’s been hard but I really want to be done with Nijigasaki and Superstar by the end of the year so I have to do more than one post a week. Madoka isn’t set to any particular day of the week for now as I’m in the process of re-editing the posts I did finish and I’m doing that whenever I have the time.

I will watch the Nijiyon shorts after Superstar!! Season 2 and Nijigasaki’s Next Sky OVA (in accordance with the release order) though I’ll probably cover it in a series review. It’s a short series and its canonicity with its parent show is dubious so I don’t see it as required for my Nijigasaki posts.

I’m tempted to cover the original Love Live! School Idol Project in episode reviews. That originally wasn’t part of the plan but seeing as it’ll be the only mainline Love Live! show that I haven’t covered in episode reviews, I feel tempted to add it to the list. When exactly I’d get to it, I’m not sure.

There’s still no release date for Madoka – Walpurgisnacht: Rising or if it’ll have a theatrical release in the US but I decided to restart my Madoka posts to keep the door open. Other than finding the time to spare, it shouldn’t be too difficult. The first nine episode reviews are out; they just need another read through and some re-editing. I only have three episodes to cover and I already have an old draft for my Episode 10 review. I’m hoping to be done soon so that I can tackle the movies during Thanksgiving break. I’ve listed all three movies in the backlog and I plan on watching all three but I am aware that the first two are compilation films. When it comes to multiple versions of the same anime, I usually pick one over the other so I think I’d only blog about the first two Madoka movies if the changes and the new content (assuming there’s any) are worth discussing. If not, then I’ll probably just cover Rebellion.

I don’t believe Magia Record is required viewing for Walpurgisnacht: Rising so I’m just aiming to get the original show and movies done in time. However, I’m not opposed to squeezing the last two seasons of Magia Record before getting to Walpurgisnacht, provided that there’s enough time of course.

Laid-Back Camp Season 3 will premiere in Spring 2024 so I definitely need to finish the movie by then.

Restarting Granbelm is a ways away. I think I’ll save it for May and June so that I can end it around the show’s 5th anniversary. At the rate I’m going, I might be down to just Granbelm by the end of January so I might add some other unfinished anime to the backlog to bide my time until I get to Granbelm.

Spring 2024 might be the last season for the backlog. I’ve been trying to round it out for a year and a half now. I’d like to move on. I kind of wanted to stop at the end of 2023 but with Granbelm being saved for Spring, I’m fine with extending this endeavor for a couple more seasons.

While I’d like to move on the backlog, it has been fun catching up on topical anime that’s returning in the future in some way so I’ve been thinking of doing the same for shows that aren’t part of the backlog. I’ve been most tempted to cover Sound! Euphonium. I never finished it but its third season will air in Spring 2024 and it’d be nice to cover another show by Kyoto Animation, one of my favorite anime studios. The problem is that there is a lot of Sound! Euphonium content that’s been released and I’ve learned from the Love Live! rabbit hole that I find it exhausting to catch up on a show that’s longer than one cour and blog about it.
