Time for an update and some reflections.

I ended up giving up on covering Metallic Rouge shortly after I posted last month’s update post and I spent February break finishing Granbelm and making significant progress on Love Live!. I thought about picking up a different seasonal show after my break but there’s only one month left in the season and I’ve had so-so success catching up on a seasonal show in a short span of time. Experimenting with different shows is also out of the question and I can’t just pick one and stick with it since I could very well change my mind and make the whole effort pointless. It just doesn’t seem to be worth the hassle. So I guess I’m going this season without a covering a whole show. Hopefully, this won’t be the case with Spring 2024.
Covering Love Live! has been going smoothly. Barring anything unexpected, I should be done with School Idol Project on the 16th. I thought about slowing down on Love Live! when it was announced that Superstar!! won’t resume until the Fall but I decided against it. Finishing the catch-up ASAP instead of stretching it out even longer just seems preferrable to me.
March is the last month where I’m regularly covering shows from the backlog. I’ve been playing catch up for almost two years now and I’ve made a lot of progress in this department. It’s time I return fully into seasonal coverage. Starting in April, I won’t be tackling any backlogged anime every weekend like I have been the past couple of seasons. Anything left in the backlog will be reserved for vacations and other days off. I may return to playing catch up in a more active capacity during my summer break but we’ll see.
I do have the last couple weekends of March with no episode review scheduled and I also have a vacation next month. To keep myself occupied, I’ll be covering the second season of Restaurant to Another World. I hadn’t considered covering this for a long while as it isn’t topical but since I have the spare time and since I’m running out of topical anime to cover anyway, I might as well pick this up again. Restaurant to Another World is also one of the first anime I’ve covered on my blog so part of me would like to stay up to date with it. I alternatively considered doing an episode review poll but I’m still a little hesitant to do that after taking my sweet time with the last poll so I want to give it some more thought before I make the jump.
I’ve been meaning to get to the second Rascal Does Not Dream movie but as some of you may know, it’ll be screening in American theaters alongside the third movie at the end of this month. Unfortunately, the subbed version is on my father’s birthday so I don’t plan on going out to the theaters that day. Sister Venturing Out already has a fansub but I’ll hold on that for a while in case that and Knapsack Kid head over to Crunchyroll or Blu-Ray.
