I neglected to give a site update in November so here’s one for December.
My apologies for being away for two weeks last month. That was not intended at all. Aside from life (and gachas…) taking up time, I wasn’t feeling great and I felt a little tired of writing.
Anime Episode Reviews
Currently Covering:
- [Seasonal] Love Live! Superstar!! (Season 3) – 8/12 eps. ( ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
- [Retroactive] Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury (Season 2) – 1/12 eps. (weekends/days off)
Backlog:
- Princess Principal: Crown Handler – /3 movies; /3 OVAs
- Rascal Does Not Dream of Knapsack Kid – /1 movie
- Violet Evergarden movies – /2 movies.
Blogging about Love Live! has been very tricky (hence the shrug emoji instead of a set day of the week). It airs in Japan on Sundays but it simulcasts on Crunchyroll on Mondays. Ideally, I’d want to write and post on Tuesdays but I obviously haven’t been able to pull that off most of the time. Due to my unintended hiatus, I fell behind by three episodes. I thought I’d have to spend my entire Thanksgiving break playing catch up but I was able to get Episodes 6 and 7 covered right before break started, which was great. That let me take things easy during Thanksgiving and Black Friday, as I should. Timing for the rest of the show will probably remain tricky but I’ll try my best.
Regarding Gundam, I just started covering Witch from Mercury Season 2. I didn’t commit to covering it immediately as I wanted to take a break from the show first and see what December looks like for me. After jotting a schedule, it looks like I can cover all of Season 2 this month (which would be a funny contrast from how slowly Season 1 took).
After Witch from Mercury, I’d be down to try other Gundam series. SEED interests me the most, due to it recently receiving a movie sequel. I’ve actually entertained the idea of covering SEED in multiple posts but I believe the whole canon consists of about 100 episodes? I almost never cover shows longer than a cour and the only anime I’ve written 100+ posts is Love Live!, which took me a whole year. Covering it in episode reviews sounds risky.
Assuming I get through Witch from Mercury in a timely fashion, there’d actually be a couple of extra days off left in the schedule. Not promising this but I have thought about squeezing in another unfinished show. Go! Go! Loser Ranger in particular tempts me, if only because the theme is right up my alley and I’m farther in that show compared to other shows on hold.
Seeing as Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid is releasing on Blu-ray here in the States on December 12, I’ve decided that I’ll finally get around to that movie in the second half of this month. Still haven’t set a time for the Princess Principal and Violet Evergarden movies but these will be covered someday.
Episode Review Screencaps
A preemptive New Year’s resolution I’m thinking for myself is finally getting the darn screencaps sorted out. I have a lot of posts to finalize screencaps for, so I’d really like to be done with it or at least get good chunk of it taken care of. To be frank, I thought about pausing episode reviews next year so that I have extra time to sort through screencaps and keep the list of posts that need them from getting even longer. I don’t know if I’d go through with it however as it would leave the blog dry for who knows how long and any alternative I could write in the meantime could make giving myself time for screencaps moot. I’ll be spending this month mulling on how to address this issue.
Video Game Reviews
Posted reviews for Alan Wake, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, and Control in October. I started Alan Wake 2 shortly after Control and I’ve been on and off trying to finish the game. It’s been tricky for a couple of reasons. Other stuff is keeping me preoccupied, it’s harder to plan time for gaming on the desktop than on a handheld, and I horribly underestimated how much this game scares me. That all said, I still plan on writing a review for it. I guess this whole marathon initiative didn’t work out as I had hoped but it was worth a try. I still plan on writing video game reviews in future, as this is something that I’ve really wanted to ever since I started this blog.
Social Media
Recently, I’ve made a Bluesky account for myself. Feel free to follow me over there. To any Twitter mutuals out there, I apologize if I don’t immediately follow you back on Bluesky. My reason is probably the same as lot of other people out there: X/Twitter sucks these days and it’s owned by a very controversial person. With Bluesky gaining a lot of momentum post-election, it seems like a good platform for me to try. I still plan on using Twitter, mostly to get notified from stuff that I follow (i.e. the official Genshin account haha). For the blog specifically, I’ll still manually link my remaining episode reviews for the year on Twitter and I might continue to share more general reviews and announcement posts. That said, I can see myself using Twitter less in favor of Bluesky.
Best of luck in the coming month~
There’s a lot of shows you cover that I don’t actually follow, but I always appreciate the amount and variety of screencaps you post. It’s a good way to get a taste of an anime I haven’t seen yet. Thanks for your work on this blog. 🙂
