Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf – Ep. 8

Please excuse the quickie approach for this episode. I was busier today than usual.

  • This episode being titled, “Welcome to Japan, Ms. Arkdragon” is so cheeky, I dig it.
  • Speaking of the Arkdragon, we finally learn her name is Wridra. I suppose Kazuhiro and Marie were being polite and didn’t ask but crazy that it took two thirds of the show to find out.
  • As expected, Wridra kicks Sven and his companion out (seriously, what is their name?). I wonder what the next course of action is for this pair. I think it’d be fun if Sven actually recommends Marie for the expedition on purpose, just so he can better figure out what the deal is with Kauzhiro.
  • Seeing as Marie’s first trip to Japan brought her to Kazuhiro’s bed without any clothes, it’s only natural that the same happens to Wridra. The fanservice is consistent, if nothing else. I do love Marie’s reaction. She really doesn’t want Kazuhiro around another naked woman.
  • Probably because Wridra is that powerful or experienced, she can actually use her magic in our world. Very curious if Marie will eventually be able to do the same. I do find it funny that all she does so far though is turn her tail and horn into clothes and give Marie human ears.
  • Gonna miss the hat Marie uses to cover up her ears, I thought it looked cute, but Wridra’s spell will definitely save her a lot of trouble.
  • Considering her overzealous reactions towards Kazuhiro’s lunch, Wridra fits into the slice of life side of the story pretty darn well. I love that she and Marie basically shares one braincell whenever Kazuhiro shows them good food.
  • While Wridra’s ear spell kind of renders it moot, it’s cool that Kazuhiro had the foresight to book a reservation at a hot spring that offers a private bath, to accommodate for Marie’s need to cover up her pointy ears. That’s how you know he’s a keeper.
  • Figured that the hot spring segment would mostly be Marie and Wridra. It tracks with the fanservice so far. I just think it’s silly that we barely see what Kazuhiro is up to. Like come on, at least cut to him chilling in his side of the hot springs.
  • Did chuckle when Wridra stands up and a beam of light covers her up. I’m going to pretend and assume she can conjure the holy light from Gabriel Dropout.
  • Love Wridra being Marie’s wingwoman. She’s doing what we the viewers can’t do which is get the ship sailing.
  • Also glad that Marie now admits that she is in love with Kazuhiro. About darn time she acknowledges it.
  • Of course Marie doesn’t kiss Kazuhiro on the lips. Dang it Marie, you had one job! Still, some progress is being made so I’ll take it.
