Pardon the quickie format again. I was a lot busier this past weekend than expected so I have to cut corners somewhere.
- At long last, we get to see the trip to Aomori.
- Wridra summoning a cat familiar that she can magically share senses with, so that she can still accompany her friends in some ways is great. This woman is getting her train ride one way or another. In hindsight, I should’ve expected Wridra to come up with something.
- I don’t know what I was expecting with the train scene apart from Team Amethyst riding a train but with how much of a fuss Wridra made last episode, I’m shocked that the actual scene is pretty pedestrian. I figured Wridra would lose her mind or something.
- Kind of hard to tell if the cat’s reactions are its own or if they’re Wridra’s. I would’ve liked a cut to Wridra when the cat reacts to something. Personally, I prefer to think it is Wridra because it’s funny to think that a bull would frighten her, what with her being an almighty dragon and all.
- Very curious how Kazuhiro explained who Marie is to his grandfather. Like, I guess he could say Marie is a distant relative again but would someone in his own family buy that as much as his acquittances?
- Interesting that Kazuhiro feels a little estranged from his grandfather, not out of malice but simply because the move to the countryside was rough for him and he was always more drawn towards the fantasy world. I would’ve liked to see their relationship explored in more detail.
- Love that the grandfather has an inkling of Kazuhiro’s big secret. I wonder if he’s somehow familiar with the fantasy world but I’m fine if it’s just his intuition.
- Marie being fascinated with the countryside and trying to look for spirits in the attic because of her favorite anime is simply adorable. I swear, you could have her watch paint dry and it’d somehow be very cute.
- I’m fed up with this show making Marie summon light spirits but her managing to pull it off in the “real” world is very stunning. After the show flirted with the possibility, I’m glad to see it finally happen for real.
- Crazy that Marie almost went an entire cour without realizing Kazuhiro’s real name. I figured she found out eons ago and she just chooses “Kazuhiho” out of familiarity but come to think about it, she really hasn’t been in a conversation where someone would refer to Kazuhiro by first name. I had a good laugh when Marie tries to refer to Kazuhiro by his actual name as some way to feel closer to him. The fact that she does while partly inebriated makes it even better.
- Love how this trip makes Kazuhiro appreciate Marie’s company even more. Had it not been for Marie, he probably wouldn’t have considered coming back to Aomori or look back on his childhood. Coming back with Marie lets him look back and appreciate the positive direction his life has recently gone.
