Here Lies My Hopes and Dreams for My Blog – April 2025 Edition

Time for an update and some reflections. As always, nothing is entirely set in stone and everything here is subject to change.

First Impressions Schedule:

  • Sat, Apr 5 – Once Upon a Witch’s Death
  • Sun, Apr 6 – Rock Is a Lady’s Modesty
  • Wed, Apr 9 – Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX
  • Sat, Apr 12 – mono
  • Sun, Apr 13 – Food for the Soul

As per usual, I’ll be writing a couple First Impressions for this anime season since I don’t have a lineup finalized and stuff scheduled for the first two weekends of the month. What is different however is that I decided to pick the shows in advance. Honestly, it’s exhausting watching from a dozen or so premieres and deciding what to cover from there. I want to see if this new approach will make things more manageable.

GQuuuuuuX‘s first episode review isn’t technically a First Impressions post as it’ll be a re-edited portion of the Beginning post but I figured I should list its due date anyway. There’s a small chance that I might not write a First Impressions post for Food for the Soul as I’ll be watching the Kaiju No. 8 compilation film in theaters on the 13th.

Currently Covering:

  • [Seasonal] Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX – /12 eps. (TBD; premieres on Apr 9 JST)
  • [Seasonal] TBD
  • [Retroactive] BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!! – 4/13 eps. (days off)
  • [Retroactive] Princess Principal: Crown Handler – 2/3 movies, 2/3 OVAs (monthly)
  • [Other] Lycoris Recoil -friends are thieves of time- /6 eps. (Thursdays; premieres on Apr 16 JST)

Backlog

  • Violet Evergarden movies – /2 movies

As you can tell, GQuuuuuuX is locked in for Spring 2025. Once again, the first couple of episode reviews will be re-edited portions taken from the Beginning movie post. Honestly, I was still unsure about picking GQuuuuuuX because Gundam can be so stinking long but the show is currently slated for 12 episodes so I’m willing to continue covering the next big installment in episode reviews. No idea on what the second show will be but it’ll likely be one of the four shows I picked above. Should I settle on nothing however, I’ll use that slot for a retroactive show.

Should be done with MyGO during my vacation later this month. Am aware that a third season to this iteration of Bandori has been greenlit but I’m still only committing to MyGO for the time being. If I do continue on with Ave Mujica, I’d probably get to it in the second half of June. I have also given the original series some thought since they’re doing new shorts for Poppin’Party but agh, one thing at a time.

Almost caught up with PriPri. Would love to finally get to Violet Evergarden in May and June. I have thought about throwing in a couple more anime alongside Violet Evergarden as one final big push with clearing the backlog but I’m still mulling over which shows to pick and if it’s doable. I might come to a decision in the next couple of days and certainly by next month’s announcement post.

Screencaps/Maintenance

  • Revue Starlight – 3/12 eps. | 3/3 specials | 0/2 movies

Still need to work on the Anime Archive and still need to get screencaps done for a lot of posts. They’re not a high priority because they’re mostly for old stuff but I still want to see these goals to the end. While I’ve been happy to make any progress these past couple of months, I think I really need to take these goals a little more seriously so I’m going to write down how things are going every announcement post. Finding the time is still going to be tricky but I think I have to settle on whenever since using Sunday last season didn’t really work out and taking a season off is risky.

As for why I’m doing Revue Starlight first, I just finished rewatching the TV series and I figured starting with an all-time favorite of mine might help get into a groove. I also realized that if I want to re-edit the movie review and maybe get to the visual novel, I should do it once the series’ screencaps and archive page is done. I’ll do Kaiju No. 8 and Rascal Does Not Dream next since both anime are returning in Summer 2025.
