While this OVA is Chapter 3‘s companion piece, it doesn’t really fit within the movie’s continuity. Team White Pigeon spends most of the movie in the royal palace but here, we’re back at their clubroom. Most likely, this places some other time in the canon. I’m guessing between the TV show and the movies.
In this episode, Dollyshop (Hiroyuki Honda), Control’s main tech support, has authorized the commission of a new car for the team. The one they were using got wrecked during Episode 12 of the TV show. When everyone sees Dorothy working on a design, they get excited and want to add their own requests, leading to a competition to see who can come up with the best custom car.
I like how Dorothy has the most practical car design and yet also the worst one. She just sticks with the original design and adds components that would improve its performance from the last car. Where Dorothy’s concept falls apart is adding a cup holder for her booze. I’m only now realizing how ironic it is that the alcoholic is the designated driver for the team. Ange pitching a car that can fly via cavorite is definitely the coolest idea out of the bunch. Dorothy argues it’d be too expensive but screw that, I want to see the team perform espionage on a flying car. Considering the car the team uses in Chapter 1, I’m guessing Dollyshop avoided the headache and went with Dorothy’s design. I would’ve loved to see this chimera of a vehicle that takes everyone’s ideas but I suppose that would’ve been too much work for a single gag.
This is the last Crown Handler post for the time being. We won’t know if Chapters 4-6 will also include OVAs but they probably will and I certainly hope so. These have been fun extras to go along with the movies.
