Special thanks to Arthifis for nominating me for the Mystery Blogger Award months ago and apologies for taking forever to respond. I wanted to get to the nomination sooner but life (a.k.a. final semester of college) got in the way. I hope that’s understandable but even then I feel bad for taking a while and the only good thing that came out of the lateness is the post title (I won’t lie, I am kind of proud of it).
Hopefully, my answers will suffice…hopefully…

3 Things About Myself
Man, I’m going to be the least interesting
1. I Don’t Own a Pet
I’ve largely lived in condos and apartments for most of my life so pets have either been banned or impractical for my family to own. I think at one point I owned a goldfish that died shortly after I got it. I also proclaimed at one point that I own a pet rock (and not the kind you bought from the store, just a bunch of rocks I collected) but that alone is just sad. If I ever have the chance, I’d like to own a dog.
2. I Used to Get Nosebleeds All The Time
It can get pretty cold and dry in New England and growing up, my nose was really sensitive to such air that it’d start to bleed on a frequent basis. I can remember needing to go to nurse’s office a lot during school because of that. It didn’t affect my health in an incredibly harmful way and I now only experience this issue once or twice a year now. Still, it had my friends worried pretty often.
3. All of My Casual Pants as Khakis
I’m not kidding, there is not a single pair of jeans in my closet. I don’t know why but I didn’t like wearing jeans growing up for some reason and I kept asking my parents to get khakis when they shopped without me. Now that I think about it, I was also picky about color. Most of my long-sleeved khakis are black for some reason. I guess I could add some variety now…but I have enough black khakis to wear to so I’m not in a rush…
Favorite Post
Plugging in my post for the tenth episode of A Place Further than the Universe for this Q&A. This was my favorite episode in all of Winter 2018, much of my fondness being because I really related with Yuzuki’s character. If you haven’t seen Yorimoi though, I would suggest reading an earlier post. Or better yet, watch the show (it’s amazing).
I wanted to pick something more self-contained but with how blogging has been a bit scatterbrained for me the past two to three months, I didn’t have a lot to choose from.
As an aside, I’ve actually thought about making a category for posts that I’m really fond of. Think of it as a sort of “Greatest Hits” or “Personal Favorites” if you will. As I write more, it gets tricky keeping track of what episodes of anime I really loved so I might go with this idea.
Arthifis’s Questions
Alright, Arthifis. It’s finally time!
1. What is the thing that you never get tired of doing?
For me, that’s probably listening to music when I’m browsing the internet on my computer. I almost always have music playing in the background. I just find it a little dull when there’s complete silence as I go on different websites. I even liked having music play when I finish papers for classes (albeit at a lower volume so that I don’t get too distracted). The only time I wouldn’t be listening would be if I’m watching a video or I’m trying to focus on my writing.
2. I just recently got hit by this dilemma, so I’m gonna ask: If someone you loved had a cure for a disease which was destroying humanity but the tests to develop a vaccine would kill her would you consent and let her go or you would do anything in your power to save (The person is willing to give her life the better good)?
I originally felt that killing her so long as you both consent is fine. So long as she’s happy with the consequence and you know that it’s for the greater good, I think it’d be wiser to respect the wish and be okay with killing her.
Then I played The Last of Us and that game completely made me rethink how I feel about this dilemma. And it’s hard to explain why without spoiling what I consider to be one of the best endings in video games.
Right now, I want to say that I’d consent and let that person go but at the same time, I feel that I’d want to save that person first in any way possible before I even consider killing her.
3. I love sweets! So share with us your favorite sweet from your country!
Here’s the thing: I live in America whose sweet industry is comprised of some of the most mass-produced and iconic brands out there. And that’s not a bad thing by any means but I can’t help but feel that it’s a little anticlimactic saying that my favorite sweet from my country are M&Ms.
Other than that….I really like Ferrero Rocher chocolates. That’s from Italy right? I really love the crunchy texture of those. I also eat some Chinese sweets on occasion (just a friendly reminder: I am Chinese American). I can’t remember what they’re called at the top of my head though. The only one I can recall is Haw Flakes which I haven’t ate since I was little (and they probably aren’t that good in hindsight). Growing up, I described them as edible “pennies” because they were round and I mistook the brownish red color for copper. Those have a very dry fruity kind of taste if I recall.
Yeah I might need to revisit this question another time. I’m sorry Arthifis!
4. What is the type of monster you like the best and the least?
I’m really fond of monsters that are very humanoid. Vampires, for example, really fascinate me in how they can uncannily fit in society while targeting humans for their blood. For a more specific example, I’m a big fan of the titular alien from The Thing because of how it can so easily assimilate people’s personalities and appearances. I also dig monsters that part-human and part-animal like minotaurs, sirens, or cyclops.
My least favorite type of monster are zombies. Part of my disinterest owes to how prevalent they’ve been in pop culture lately but I just find them too simplistic in terms of how threatening they are and how they can be killed. That said, I love it when people get creative with the archetype. Last of Us for example incorporated cordyceps with its zombies and those are easily one of the best zombies I’ve ever seen in media.
5. What song would you choose if you could only hear that one for the rest of your life?
I can’t think of a single song I’d want to hear for the rest of my life. I’d go insane after hearing one song that many times consecutively. If I had to say a song to keep my sanity lasting the longest though, I’d go with something silly and catchy at least. Something like “Go, Go, Power Rangers” or the Duck Tales theme song would fit the bill for me.
Now, if the question was asking what soundtrack I would choose to hear for the rest of my life, I’d have an easier time to question. You could leave me with just the Persona 4 soundtrack and I’d be 100% okay with listening to it forever.
Thanks for reading!

Haw flakes…you like that stuff?? I mean, it’s okay-tasting, I guess. I’m just so surprised that anyone would name that particular food when asked to list favourite sweets!

No, I was just trying to think of a candy that’s non-American and that I liked as a kid. I’ve haven’t eaten Haw Flakes in years…I’d probably wouldn’t like it now haha.

Re-reading my answer, I realize the context is a little unclear. I’ll make sure to fix that in my spare tume.

Uuuuh Persona 4 soundtrack, great choice! Although I would go with Persona 3 ahah
It seems I relate to you now in another level than before! I also had the same problem with nosebleeds when I was young! I remember a day in class where I was crying so I had my head under my arms (like in a sleeping position). I gor my head up and I think I may have scared the colleague that was sitting near me! It was a blood bath ahah I didn’t really understood that I was having a nosebleed because of the crying ahah xD
Hmmm a pet rock eh! I would pay for a photo of you walking it down the street ahahah 😀 That would be different eheh
Don’t worry about the time though xD I know everyone has their own busy schedules, so when I nominate people is just to give them more visibility xP If they answer yaiiii! If not, well I don’t get mad or anything 😛

For the record, I love Persona 3’s soundtrack. Shoji Meguro is simply a God among video game composers. I just happen to prefer Persona 4’s lol.
Wow, that nosebleed sounds really weird and concerning. I don’t think I ever had that happened to me though my nose bled so many times growing up that I couldn’t keep track :l
I figured you weren’t mad haha. I’ve learned that it’s okay if you have drafts on hold for months (still have a bunch of anime reviews I need to get around to…). Life will always get in the way and how much it does varies between person to person. And people don’t seem to mind when these nominations take a while to respond. Still, I wanted to make fun of my own lateness anyway haha.
