It’s Always Neat to Be Called Neat (Award Tag/Q&A)

Special thanks to Inskidee at Inskime for nominating me for the Real Neat Blog Award. I’m not nearly as late with this nomination (it’s from last month) but eh, I still wish I could’ve responded a little sooner. Anyway…

The Award

  • Display the logo
  • Thank the blogger that nominated you and share a link to their blog.
  • Answer the questions of the one who nominated you.
  • Nominate 7-10 bloggers.
  • Ask them 7 questions.

The Questions

#1. What is the worst thing you’ve ever smelled?

This is going to be really embarrassing but tonsil stones. I’ve had one in my throat once or twice and they eventually came out when I coughed. Think rotten eggs but they’ve lying around in the kitchen for weeks. That’s how bad they smell.

#2. What is your most useless talent?

Blogging of course! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go cry in a corner.

In all seriousness, I don’t really know. I never had any weird, hidden talent growing up and whatever I’m good ends up being of relevant use in my life.

#3. What is your absolute worst fear? [You didn’t ask but mine are goat eyes].

I do find goat eyes extremely creepy…

Growing up, I was super afraid of snakes and spiders, specifically the poisonous kinds. I was legitimately afraid that the tiny spiders that show up in my house would bite and kill me or a snake would find its way in and also bite and kill me.

Nowadays, I’d say my worst fear is enocholophobia, a fear of crowds. It’s not a severe case but I feel very anxious and stressed when I’m in a very crowded place full of people I don’t know. I think that fear has grown more pronounced since I started working and commute by train. Even at conventions, the crowded areas can get to me. When I’m with a friend in these situations though, I tend to feel far less anxious.

#4. You will be given 200k dollars if you trade in one of your body parts. Which one will you trade in?

My feet. That’s the one body part that would conflict with my hobbies the least, especially video games (unless I need to use a Wii Balance Board for some odd reason). That being said, I would never take this offer. I think I’d regret my decision immediately and use the $200k to get prosthetics or something.

#5. If you could change your name, what would you change it to?

Well, that requires saying what my real name is and sorry but I’m not at a point yet where I want to share it so publicly. I will say this: I have a very short name and the nickname my best friend gives me is actually longer than it. I’ve jokingly considered legally changing my name to that longer nickname so that my original name is now a shortened nickname. For the record, my best friend hates this idea.

#6. What is the absolute, most useless purchase you’ve ever made?

Figurines, anime related or not. All they technically do is take up space, pretty up your shelves, and tell visitors that you’re a nerd (or a pervert depending on what the figurine is). Posters and prints take up way less space. Physical games and blu-rays have a practical element since they’re media I can repeatedly go back to. That all said, they do look nice and I almost never regret getting the ones I get for anime. I wanted that 1/8 Megumi Kato bunnygirl statue, damn it.

#7. What was your most gullible moment or What was the most craziest thing that you believed? Don’t lie, we’ve all had one.

As a joke, my dad told me that he and my mom figured out what to name by flipping to a page of a baby’s name book, spun a pencil, and that pencil landed on my name. I was admittedly very young at the time but I can’t believe that I took it as a fact. I remember feeling annoyed and thinking that my parents got lazy. I think my dad expected me to know it was a joke because he was a little surprised when I brought it up to him years later.

  1. Thank you for your answers! Oh gosh, the tonsil stones story sounds absolutely horrible! Also, my apologies for asking the question on names. Most bloggers on the list had revealed their names to the public but I completely forgot about the other half that hadn’t / felt uncomfortable. My mistake, that was an insensitive question on my behalf.

Anyways, I had a blast reading your answers! Especially your one on crowds. I feel the same way in mass crowds. I went to a few tourist spots in Los Angelos once and ohmigersh, I could not with those crowds. People are just everywhere. They feel like a neverending wall which I’m not too fond of.

    1. No offense taken about the question on names. I rarely bring up my preference for privacy so I don’t blame anyone for taking it for granted. If I ever do decide to reveal my real name, I don’t mind revisiting the question.
