Seasonal Anime Coverage
First off, the Spring 2020 Final Rankings was posted yesterday. The only two shows I “missed” are Healin’ Good Pretty Cure and BNA and that’s because those hit streaming very late into June. Currently watching BNA and I hope to add both shows into the Rankings before Saturday, July 4 which is when Healin’ Good‘s first Summer 2020 episode airs. If not…oh well.
As for Summer 2020, First Impressions begin this weekend. Nothing is set for episode reviews but I do plan on picking something. I ended up skipping coverage last season as my top priority was fulfilling the first poll and covering Angel Beats! for its tenth anniversary. Since it’s been a while since I’ve reviewed consistently, I felt the need to play it safe. That said, it felt weird not covering anything current and I hate to say it but current stuff is more likely to secure traffic.
Episode Reviews
- Angel Beats! – Finished covering the main series but the episode reviews aren’t done just yet as there’s “Another Epilogue” and the two OVAs. Will be entirely done on July 17th.
- School-Live! – Finished. Click here for the archive page if you’re interested. I plan on covering the manga but that’s a while away. Want to take a break first.
- Flip Flappers – Started after School-Live! and I’m about two episodes in. Taking a break due to the Summer 2020 premieres and will resume on July 18th.
- Yuki Yuna is a Hero – Finished Season 1 and I’m now covering Season 2. Taking a break due to the Summer 2020 premiers and will resume on July 19th.
- Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story – This has been a low priority for me where the next post is out when it’s out. That said, I definitely would’ve preferred to be done with this stinking show last month. This is why I generally feel discouraged to catch up on episode reviews I fell behind on. Hopefully, I’ll finally be done this month.
- Violet Evergarden – Still need to rewatch the show before I get to Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll and I still plan on reviewing the latter. As I said in the last announcement post, I will be updating the sreencaps for my episode reviews.
Manga First Impressions
As mentioned earlier, I’m going to review the School-Live! at some point in the foreseeable future. In the meantime, I figure I test the waters of reviewing manga so I’m going to try a bunch of recent releases and write some first impressions posts on them. First one will be for Spy x Family which I recently picked up and really liked. The Summer 2020 premieres are my top priority however so these posts will be out pretty sporadically.
Episode Re-Reviews
While writing in anticipation of Crown Handler would be more fitting, I am leaning towards finishing the Princess Principal re-reviews this summer. I figured since I’m rounding out the backlog to finally write my Top 20 lists, I could also take the time to revisit some favorites such as PriPri. Another reason is that I would like to finish it first before I get to Laid-Back Camp and The Quintessential Quintuplets this fall. Haven’t decided on a specific time or if I’ll crank them out weekly or all at once but this summer is my preferred window right now.
